St. Mary’s Soccer (SMS) is a 501(c) (3) non-profit organization that is affiliated with the Maryland State Youth Soccer Association (MSYSA) and St. Mary’s County Department of Recreation and Parks that offers recreational and competitive levels of soccer for children in St. Mary's County, Maryland.
To provide every youth player an opportunity to play soccer, regardless of skill level and to help them find the right level of play through our Recreation, Recreation Plus (Rec Plus), or Travel programs.
We are committed to developing players and impacting lives, through positive, fun and challenging soccer. Our focus is on the players and their families and helping them reach their goals. Every day, every practice and every game, we will ask ourselves; are challenging our players proportionately? Are we inspiring and developing them not just as talented athletes but also as young adults? Most importantly, are we doing it in a way that they are having fun and still love the game? We will meet our players where they are and help them grow to the level they want to grow. Our interest is more in the number of players we develop than the number of games we win. By focusing on development first, the wins will come on their own, both on and off the pitch. This is how we measure success.
The Board of Directors is responsible for the overall operation of SMS and consists of both elected/voting members (officers) and appointed/non-voting members. There are 12 Elected/Voting Board Members who compromise the Executive Board. Members are elected by the general membership at a general meeting held and the end of the Spring season.
